About Me
Hello! My name is Marissa Lucia and I am currently a student at Sacred Heart University striving to achieve a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy. I chose this profession because it blends my passion for creativity and making a difference in people's lives. Its holistic approach, which emphasizes understanding the whole person rather than just their diagnosis, deeply aligns with my core values of empathy, flexibility, and a commitment to continuous growth. After having the opportunity to shadow and observe the significant impact OTs have on their clients in multiple settings including schools, nursing homes, and outpatient clinics, I knew this was the profession for me. Thank you for visiting my portfolio. I invite you to explore my projects and experiences as I continue growing in this rewarding field!
Mission Statement
As an aspiring occupational therapist, my mission is to empower individuals to overcome barriers and embrace meaningful, fulfilling lives. I am dedicated to combining evidence-based practices, creativity, and compassion to provide holistic, client-centered care. Through continuous learning and self-reflection, I strive to grow as a clinician and adapt to the unique needs of each individual I serve.
I believe that the heart of occupational therapy lies in collaboration meaning working alongside clients to celebrate their achievements, navigate their challenges, and uncover their potential. This process is not about finding quick fixes but about embracing creativity and persistence to adapt to limitations and discover new ways to thrive.
My ultimate goal is to become an exemplary healthcare professional who advocates for clients, honors their values, and helps bridge gaps within the healthcare system. I recognize the importance of interdisciplinary teamwork and effective communication in delivering the best possible care.
This portfolio reflects my commitment to this mission as I develop the knowledge, skills, and empathy essential to becoming a thoughtful, impactful occupational therapist. I am dedicated to continuously evolving as a professional while empowering others to lead independent, meaningful lives filled with purpose and possibility.
